Fabulous views from Newbigging Cottage

If you are looking for a quiet, cosy, ‘get away from it all’ location with access to local amenities and close to attractions then look no further than Newbigging Cottage.  We have beautiful open views over the surrounding countryside.  Many of our guests comment on the huge skies and wonderful light we get in Orkney and there is no better place to appreciate these qualities than our cottage.  You will be surrounded by wildlife and farm animals.  This photo shows the view of HMS Tern, also known as RNAS Twatt, from the cottage on a snowy day in January.  The cottage enjoys a lovely location if you enjoy walking in the country.  You can walk down to the airfield, HMS Tern and explore the many abandoned buildings.  You could visit the Loons, a RSPB bird reserve, which is adjacent to our farm.  Or wander along a track and then on to the main road to Skara Brae stopping at the Orkney Brewery for a cup of coffee on the way, walk along the beautiful Skaill beach and have lunch at the cafe at the visitor centre at Skara Brae, a great day out without ever getting in your car.
